Consultation fees

All consultations with our doctors incur a fee payable at the time of service unless otherwise advised.

Fees vary depending on the length of consultation, complexity of care and type of appointment.

Patients are responsible for payment of the full consultation fee at the time of their appointment.

Medicare rebates

A Medicare rebate applies to eligible services for patients with a valid Medicare card.

Medicare rebates are processed on the day of your appointment. The rebate is paid directly back into your nominated bank account, usually within 1-2 business days.

Bulk billing

Bulk billing is available at the discretion of the doctor. It may apply to children under 16 years, pension and concession card holders over 75 years, and specific appointment types such as GPCCMPs or Health Assessments.

Please note bulk billing is not guaranteed and may not apply to all services.

Payment methods

We accept EFTPOS, credit and debit cards, contactless payments and cash.

Patients with outstanding accounts may be required to settle their balance before booking further appointments.

Additional costs and missed appointments: a fee may be charged for missed appointments or insufficient notice of cancellation. You will be informed of any additional costs prior to the service where possible.

Hill HealthWise reserves the right to update fees at any time. Patients will be notified of significant changes where possible.

New patients

Booking your first appointment

All new patients are required to book an appointment in advance. When booking, please advise reception that you are a new patient so sufficient time can be allocated.

Hill HealthWise operates by appointment only and does not offer walk-in appointments.

What to bring

New patients are asked to complete a New Patient Registration Form prior to or on arrival, and provide a valid Medicare card and any relevant concession cards.

Please also bring a list of current medications and any relevant medical history.

Arriving for your appointment

Arriving 10-15 minutes early is recommended to allow time for registration.

Your first consultation may require a longer appointment, particularly if you have multiple or complex health concerns, ongoing medical conditions, or a detailed medical history to review.

Continuity of care: for continuity and quality of care, patients are encouraged to see the same GP where possible. Please ensure your contact details are kept up to date.

If you are transferring from another practice, you may request to have your medical records forwarded. A medical records transfer form is available at reception. Processing of records may take time depending on your previous clinic.

Scripts and referrals

Patients are encouraged to request prescriptions and referrals during their consultation to support safe and appropriate medical care.

In-consultation requests

Prescriptions and referrals are best provided during an appointment, where your doctor can review your conditions, medications and ongoing needs.

Online requests

Some doctors may offer online repeat prescription and referral requests for regular patients where the patient is an existing patient of the practice, has had a consultation within the past 6 months, and the request is for ongoing care or stable medication.

Fees and processing

Online repeat script or referral requests incur a $25 fee. This service is not eligible for a Medicare rebate. Payment is required prior to processing the request.

Please allow up to 4 business days for your eScript or referral to be issued after it has been reviewed and approved by your doctor.

Doctor discretion

Approval of online prescription or referral requests is at the doctor’s discretion. Your doctor may decline the request or require you to attend a consultation before issuing the prescription or referral.

Results and recalls

Onsite pathology

Hill HealthWise offers onsite pathology services Monday to Friday for patient convenience.

Patients can have pathology collected onsite following a request from their doctor. Our pathology provider operates during designated weekday hours.

How results are followed up

Once your results are received, they are reviewed by your GP and you will be contacted if follow-up is required.

After review, patients may be notified by SMS or phone call, depending on the nature of the results.

Important: results are not routinely given out by reception staff. An appointment may be required to discuss results in detail. Results and recall appointments are bulk billed when the appointment is specifically for reviewing results or attending a recall. If a new or unrelated health concern is raised during that appointment, a separate consultation may be required and standard appointment fees may apply. If you have not received communication within a reasonable timeframe, please contact the practice.

If advised, it is important to book a consultation promptly to discuss your results and arrange any further investigations or treatment.

MyMedicare

Hill HealthWise Family Medical Centre participates in the Australian Government’s MyMedicare program, designed to support stronger relationships between patients and their regular GP.

What is MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration program that formalises your relationship with your chosen general practice and GP. It helps improve continuity of care and access to certain Medicare-funded services.

Patient registration

Patients can choose to register with Hill HealthWise and nominate their preferred GP if they have had at least two face-to-face visits at our practice in the past 24 months, or meet other eligibility criteria set by Medicare.

Registration can be completed through your Medicare Online Account via myGov, or with assistance from our reception team.

Benefits and responsibilities

Registered patients may receive improved continuity of care with their nominated GP, access to longer telehealth consultations where appropriate, and additional Medicare-supported services as they become available.

Patients registered under MyMedicare are encouraged to attend Hill HealthWise as their regular practice, book with their nominated GP whenever possible, and maintain up-to-date personal and Medicare details.

MyMedicare registration is voluntary and free. Patients can withdraw or change their preferred practice at any time. Standard practice fees and billing policies still apply.
